Definition of Triglycerides
What are Triglycerides?
They are the main constituents of body fat. When you eat your body burns calories that it needs but immediately stores calories it does not need as triglycerides. Later, the body may need energy if you do not eat, and hormones will release triglycerides as energy. If you eat more than you need you will have high triglycerides.
Conclusion:
- Triglycerides store calories for when your body needs energy.
- Cholesterol will build cells and certain hormones.
An excess of triglycerides and bad cholesterol (LDL) will build up as fatty deposits in your arteries and can be fatal.
